Lisa Steffens is a visual artist and former art and design teacher. She is a recent transplant to the mountains of North Carolina, and has lived in many places over the years - each place dear to her heart. Lisa was raised in the beauty of the Hudson River Valley of New York, and also spent a fair portion of her life in the United Kingdom. She attended college at Southampton College of Art in Hampshire, England and completed a Masters in Communication Design at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, London. She worked for the BBC for twelve years as Graphic Designer for the nightly news, ushering graphics out for deadlines twice a day. In some ways she claims she will always be “betwixt and between”, she loves England, and feels a deep and abiding kinship to the country, the people, the history and the humor, but at the end of the day, she felt a strong need to return to the United States. Once stateside she studied for an MFA at New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in NYC, graduating in 2006, and also completed a visual art teaching certification at Manhattanville College.
Florida is yet another home for Lisa as it is where family and friends reside. She served as art teacher in New York and Florida and is now eager to focus on making art.
Lisa Steffens work can be found in collections in United States, Britain, The Netherlands and Spain.
